At last, Kenny Cunningham, a loyal, honest and experienced player has revealed the shambolic way in which the club has been managed. When a player of his honesty and stature says the buck stops with Bruce you know that something is profoundly wrong. Can those who still want Bruce to mange this club respond to this interview? I have a gut feeling that Bruce will go but even more worrying is Kenny's damning assessment of the Board. I think he's right. The soul of our club has been sold. I have a flashback to our home defeat against Everton when it was announced that an Everton player's booking was sponsored by "Black and White". Talk about squeezing every last penny out of our time in the Prem. |

I've no doubt that Bruce will leave within the next 2 weeks Unfortunately, the board (while I acknowledge what they have done in the past) have played their part in this sorry affair, and until they change their ways we will go nowhere |

as a perceived pro-sb man, my response to kc's comments are; its a a damning and irreversible blow to sb's reputation and that of the entire coaching staff. of all the players, kc is the one who's comments i'd trust the most, and it also gives me no pleasure in saying that. if its true and he's been telling sb this for months then i think his position is now untenable. my previous support for sb was because of a lack of anything other than rumour and innuendo - now the truth is there for all to see i'm afraid it MUST spell the end for sb.... :( |

I have respect for the fans who have stuck by Bruce, i must admit at times i have thought their support has verged on the ridiculous and apathetic, but surely now no fan at this club can support him any more? For a seasoned pro like King Kenny to say things like this for me is so disturbing that imo the whole backroom staff should be sacked. Forget the dream that we are going to go straight back up and spend the next 2-3 years re-building the foundations for another attack on the Prem. And on the bright side im planning my booze up now for when Bruce leaves, personally that will make my year, we as fans deserve better than this bloke. |

My hitherto, indecision on the Bruce in/out issue has now come to its end. These damning revelations that have been brought to light by someone of Kenny Cunninghams unquestionable integrity leaves me with no doubt that the time for Bruce to leave is now. |

I urge all fans to read the ENTIRE article in The Post. He addresses tactics, motivation, preparation, the Board's approach to the club and most of all Bruce's judgment. It reminds me a little of Geoffrey Howe's speech before Maggy Thatch resigned!! I find it very difficult to envisage a scenario in which Bruce remains as manager with any credibility. |

I was also one of the 'uncertain' as to whether I wanted Bruce out or not, but I respect KK a lot and his words are pretty damning. It seems that Black - who was most people's scapegoat - is not the reason for our poor season/training regime/fitness and there is nothing now to make me think that Bruce would change his ways. So, as much as it hurts me to say it, if we want the club to move forward Bruce does need to leave. My only worry is the Board. We are obviously all very very grateful for what the Board have done; without them we would not have a club, However, whoever comes in is going to have to contend with them and this could prove to be too big a barrier. :( :( I'm a very worried and disappointed Blues fan today. :( Mo x |

i have to agree with your first point about fans who have stuck by SB, i wanted him out before xmas. however i am not the sort of person to say told you so. i just want the best for my team, i support through thick and thin. If Steve Survives this and the club make changes to the playing staff and more important coaching and fitness, i'd still support him. I have to say though the situation has changed dramatically since Bowen left, we all know that. |

It confirms to me what most have been suggesting for more than 12 months and that is that SB is frankly out of his depth. It slao suggests he will hang others out to dry rather than accept responsibility himself. Coaches and players apparently. The article explains so much about the failings of the team. What it also confirms, more worryingly, is that the reservations we harbour about the attitude and motivation of the owners is shared in the dressing room. I think they need to start walking the talk. And stop condoning or even encouraging a marketing approach towards the fans that has much to do with the cheap behaviour of 'barrow boys'. No Soul! Right on, KK. |

My reason for saying one more season has not been because I thought Bruce was blameless, but because I was on one hand sure he would learn from the errors of the last 18 months and on the other hand very concerned that whoever we attracted to replace him would not be experienced anough or of a high enough calibre to ensure we actually got an improvement. Now SB's position is becoming untennable and he will go. However I am now even more concerned about the replacement. What experienced and high calibre manager is going to come and work for this board. They are as damned as Bruce by the article. |

With respect proccy, just about every one of KK's observation have been argued here many times and in great detail. - starting the season with only 3 strikers - limitations of 4-4-2 - over reliance on Pennant / easily stopped by teams doubling up - lack of preparation (We need to use our time on the training pitch more productively). - complaining about bad luck / injuries is burying your head into the sand - injury prevention and fitness regime - DS + DGs unwillingness to invest their own money I think that many posters have argued these points coherently over several months, so it's not true to say that it was only rumour and innuendo. Fair enough, KK's opinion is much more worthy of respect than ours, but I would suggest that those of us who have watched blues for ten, twenty, thirty years know what we are talking about too (sometimes). |

Thats so very true, Cunningham really only says what many have been saying Its just sad that its taken relegation for a respected player to finally come out and say what we've been thinking. Is Steve Bruce really so stubborn that he can't see all of this for himself? If he has been told by the players (as Cunningham claims) why didn't he do anything? Its a sad, sad day for Birmingham City football club and its supporters We deserved better than this |

i intended no slight on anyone penguin, as i dont now, but i'm afraid if its not fact (which it wasnt) it IS rumour and innuendo, like it or not. i've also been watching blues for decades and can also see what others see, but until i knew the truth i believed in the man. now i admit i was wrong to, and would like to see the club correct the error and get rid so we can move on. i am happy enough to admit when i'm wrong, i'm also expecting lots of gloating and "i told you 12 months ago" posts but it wont make me feel worse than i already do, fella.. |

having just read Kenny's statement i think it's chilling.... i recall back in September one or two on here - i recall St Andys - talking about the loss of the fitness coach Arnaud and wondering if there was more to it than what was reported. it now seems there was. this football club has had the opportunity to hold on to our Premiership status, but through the arrogance and poor management, from both Bruce and the board, we are now in a mess. it's time something changed. time the board put up or shut up. time Bruce left or was fired and time for the board to build new bridges with supporters, after all we are the lifeblood of this football club. and as Kenny said, after many dark days we deserve true success! |

That man has talked more sense and honesty in one interview, than Steve Bruce has in his last 50. He will make an excellent manager for someone, unfortunately it won't be us. As an ex-Captain and an ex-player he has gone beyond the call of his duty. He has defended his fellow pro's and had the courage to question his ex-boss, publicly. This is a very rare thing in football, you see it from some individuals like Savage and Cantona, but you very rarely see it so articulately and selflessly as we have witnessed from Cunningham. I have nothing but the fullest and greatest respect for Kenny Cunningham, and I'm so proud he wore the royal blue shirt. Thanks Kenny. Your honesty and straightforwardness will have opened a lot of people's eyes. And given hope where it was waning to many others. (Prepare for the Blues' spin about sour grapes and "huge wage demands" etc.In an effort to discredit KC.) ;) |

No one was really in possesion of the full facts - we all had hunches and information that has been passed on by various sources but thats all it was. However if joe public could see these issues back in Sept/October then why couldnt the man with professional coaching and management qualifications? It doesnt make this situation feel any better knowing that i was right - in fact i almost wish i was wrong and all was rosy in the garden of this club. Fact remains it isnt :( |
